Blake, Tursonov withdraw from Memphis
James Blake, the world’s No. 6 player, withdrew Friday from next weeks’ Regions Morgan Keegan Championships at the Racquet Club.Blake, 27, would have been the tournament’s second seed. A five-time winner on the ATP Tour in 2006, he reached his first career final in Memphis in 2002.
“I know how difficult it is coming straight out of Davis Cup play (two weeks ago),” Chamberlain said. “We’ve lost a couple of others like that before. Even if they played the next tournament, they’ve always suffered a bit.”
Also withdrawing were Dmitry Tursunov, who would have been the fifth seed, and Max Mirnyi, who was a finalist in 2005. Commercial Appeal
