Venus takes home fourth Wimby title
I watched the match between Venus and Bartoli this morning - 6AM Pacific Time, ugh. Predictably, Venus was able to pull off the win, which she seemed pretty happy about (as did sister Serena, who watched with their mom). Bartoli put a lot of pressure on herself to win, which became obvious in post-match interviews. All of the interviewers kept stating how happy she should be to have made it, but she did seem downright miserable.
Mary Carillo was talking about the training regimen her coach and dad uses with her, which just sounds crazy to me. He tapes tennis balls to the bottom of her shoes and she walks around in them. She practices her service motion on her knees using a fishing rod. Personally, I think I’d fire the guy even though this apparently helped her defeat the #1 women’s player and make it to the Wimbledon final.
