Davenport may be back after all
Another update from Lindsay, who is giving more and more hope to her fans.
Lindsay Davenport’s retirement from tennis could turn into one of the shortest on record as the former number 1 toys with the idea of a return.
Ten months after playing her last match, the new mother said that she would now consider a return to the WTA.
“I hope so,” the 31-year-old said Tuesday, regarding her possible reversal during a teleconference promoting her participation in the summer World TeamTennis league, playing for Sacramento.
The three-time Grand Slam champion had her child less than six weeks ago.
“Things have healed really quickly,” she said. “I’ve had a great recovery. For about two and a half weeks, I’ve been pretty active, been able to practice now the last week at a very high per centage. I’m glad there were no complications.”
Davenport said that she has been hitting with her stockbroker husband at the family home in southern California.
“As it went in the later part of my pregnancy, I thought if I stay healthy, it would be just great to be able to come back and play some as a mother,” she said. “I haven’t made any final decisions yet, but it’s a small goal in the back of my mind (that) I’m working towards.” The Nation
