Woodbridge defends the Plexicushion choice
Plexicushion is a court that any club in Australia can access with the help of Tennis Australia’s rebate program. Now more clubs and players around the country will have the chance to practise and play on the national surface.
So why now? After 20 years the courts’ use-by date was up.
Most of the outside courts were worn to the point of not being acceptable for a grand slam event.
Also, water was seeping into the court bases and the Rebound mat.
The resurfacing involved drainage renovation, court base reconstruction on main courts and new asphalt bases for all courts.
This work needed to be carried out before the application of any new surface.
Plexicushion, as a tried and tested product the world over, was an obvious choice.
This is a change to a view of a generation of Australian players - the next generation. Herald Sun
