Bartoli and Mauresmo not playing Fed Cup
France have selected Alize Cornet and Pauline Parmentier in place of newly-dethroned Australian Open champion Amelie Mauresmo and top-ten compatriot Marion Bartoli for their Fed Cup encounter with China in Beijing next weekend.
Both Mauresmo and Bartoli had declined their invites for the squad but French captain Georges Goven initially said he would expect to be able to count on both as well as Virginie Razzano and Nathalie Dechy.
“The French team defends its values and principles and has to come first,” Goven insisted last week, adding he wanted to select the strongest team possible. AFP
